Together with Claudia Lauber, who has been a long-standing owner of my horses and with whom I have enjoyed a partnership for over ten years, and her husband Dr. Andreas Lauber, with whom I co-own the mare Candy, we have – thanks to Hans Melzer – found an outstanding young eventing prospect.Keatano JJ is a five-year-old bay Holsteiner gelding bred by the Lausen/Reuß breeding partnership. He is a young athlete with great quality and a wonderful temperament. He already demonstrated his exceptional talent as a three-year-old, winning the free-jumping competitions in Holstein with outstanding scores of 9.7 and 9.5.
Keatano JJ has an enormous canter that carries him confidently around the show jumping course and across the country. His walk is very good, and his trot is good. He is easy to ride, responds sensitively to the aids, is comfortable to sit on and shows a natural balance. While jumping Keatano is very elastic, with plenty of scope and a good eye for the jump with an intelligent, careful approach. He completed his first cross-country tests at introductory (E) and elementary (A) level under Carina Wacks with confidence, courage and great enthusiasm for the task. Hans Melzer saw him at his first cross-country competition and was immediately convinced: ‘This is a horse for Ingrid.’ Keatano is an exceptionally likeable gelding who is very people-oriented, attentive and level-headed. He is composed and happy with the world around him. Whether out in the forest or on the beach, he remains confident and relaxed in every setting. He is eager to learn and always wants to get everything right, sometimes showing a charming touch of over-enthusiasm in the process. I am looking forward to our winter training together.
